Access Existing Account

If you have participated in CLEAR programs in the past, you should already have an account with the CLEAR ~ Center for Lifelong Education and Recreation. To verify your existing account, vist our Home Page and enter your e-mail address where indicated. You should have received an e-mail from us indicating your temporary password, which should be entered in the Password field.

If you are unable to locate your e-mailed password, you may contact our office at (315) 267-2167 and ask staff for assistance. Alternatively, you may click on the "Don't know/forgot Password?" link beneath the Log On button and follow the instructions provided.

Create a New Account

In order to register for courses online, you must have an account with the CLEAR ~ Center for Lifelong Education and Recreation (CLEAR). Creating an account also gives you online access to view your registration history, change your address and more.

You can go to our Sign up page to create a new account. Note: you must have an email address to set up an account with us.

Lost/Forgotten Password

You can send a request for your password to be sent to your email address on our Lookup Password page.

Current Program Offerings

Program offerings vary by semester and season. Non-Credit courses are offered every fall and spring semester, while overnight summer camps usually open for registration in December. Summer day camp offerings open in mid- to late- April. Conferences and special events run year-round, depending on the program.

Your Enrollment Card

To see a list of programs in which you are enrolled, visit the Registration History page then click the appropriate button:
  • Upcoming Programs - view a list of your upcoming programs with dates and location
  • Completed Programs - view a list of completed programs with the ceus/grades earned

Registration Information

To register for a program:
  1. Look Up Program - look up the program you want to enroll in on our Program Schedule page.
  2. Add to Enrollment Card - click the Enroll Yourself button to start the registration process.
  3. Logon - log on to the system. Note: if you're already logged on, this step will be skipped.
  4. Select Program Options - select the appropriate program fee options (i.e. select registration fee, add optional fees), and enter additional information requested, if any (i.e. t-shirt size, etc.).
  5. Add More Programs - if you are enrolling in other programs, click the Enroll in Another Program button and repeat steps 1, 2, and 4. Otherwise, continue to step 6.
  6. Proceed to Checkout - once you have added all the desired programs to your Enrollment Card, click the Proceed to Checkout button to continue the registration process.
  7. Make Payment - edit your personal information if necessary then click the Submit Payment button to continue on to our Payment Service to make your payment.
  8. Registration Confirmed - when you are finished with the payment process, the Transaction Completed page is displayed notifying you that you are enrolled in the program(s). A confirmation email with the registration specifics is also sent to your email address. At this time, you can safely log off the system.

Methods of Payment

CLEAR currently accepts MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express credit credit cards. Cash payments may be made in person, or check payments made payable to "SUNY Potsdam" may be mailed to:

SUNY Potsdam is unable to hold customer fees for future use. Any dollars owed to a customer will be returned in accordance with the CLEAR Refund/Withdrawal Policy. Processing of refunds takes approximately two weeks.

Please Note: Telling an instructor of your intent to withdraw from a program is not considered an official withdrawal. You MUST contact the CLEAR office to withdraw from a program.

CLEAR's specific Refund/Withdrawal Policy depends on the type of program you are enrolled in:

Non-Credit Courses:
If your non-credit course is canceled due to insufficient enrollment, you will receive a full refund. If you wish to withdraw from a course, immediately notify CLEAR by phone at (315) 267-2167. Telling your instructor of your intent to withdraw is not considered an official withdrawal. The refund policy for non-credit courses is as follows:
  • Full refund after the first class
  • 50% refund after the second class
  • No refund after the third class
This policy does not apply for non-credit courses of three or fewer class sessions.

Day Camps
If your day camp is canceled due to insufficient enrollment, you will receive a full refund. If you wish to withdraw from a day camp, immediately notify CLEAR by phone at (315) 267-2167. You MUST withdraw from a day camp prior to the camp start date in order to receive refund. Withdrawals on or after the first day of camp will not be refunded. If you feel that your circumstances warrant special consideration, please contact CLEAR at (315) 267-2167.

Overnight Camps
CLEAR will refund all overnight camp registration payments minus the $100 deposit if participants withdraw prior to the final payment deadline indicated in the camp information. Participants withdrawing after the final payment deadline will not be refunded. If you feel that your circumstances warrant special consideration, please contact CLEAR at (315) 267.2167.

Conferences and Events
Please contact CLEAR at (315) 267-2167 or -2538 to discuss withdrawals or refunds for conference programs or special events.

Program & Class Cancellations

You cannot cancel a registration online. To cancel a registration, you must contact CLEAR:

Academic Breaks

Non-Credit classes are generally scheduled around academic holidays at SUNY Potsdam. Most classes will not be scheduled around Thanksgiving or during Fall or Spring recesses listed on the campus Academic Calendar. Please consult the specific course listing to determine no-class days for a particular course.

H1N1 Flu or Other Infectious Disease Policy

Cancellations Due to Illness
CLEAR at SUNY Potsdam reserves the right to cancel non-credit courses, conference services, or summer camps in the event of an outbreak of H1N1 flu or other infectious disease. If cancellation occurs before the start of an event, registered participants will receive a full refund. If a course or camp is canceled after it has begun, participants will receive a prorated refund based on the number of sessions that have been completed.
CLEAR events may not be canceled due to low attendance. If a non-credit course instructor must cancel a class session, a make-up class will be scheduled.

No refunds will be granted for an individual's temporary absence from a non-credit class session. If it is necessary for a participant to withdraw from a non-credit course or event due to illness or other medical necessity, he or she will receive a prorated refund upon submission of a physician's note.
